St. Luke’s MediLocus

Integrated Healthcare and Conditioning Training for Preventative Medicine

Client Profile

St. Luke’s Medilocus, a clinic affiliated with St. Luke’s International Hospital, was established in the fall of 2012 as a clinic providing primary care and preventive medicine. Located in Otemachi, at the heart of Japan’s business district, and in an area which has undergone significant recent redevelopment, the clinic’s parent institution, St. Luke’s International Hospital, is known as one of the first hospitals in Japan to offer comprehensive health checkups and has made significant contributions to the development of preventive medicine in Japan.

Client Requests

St. Luke’s International Hospital has always been forward-thinking and prepared to change with the times. As such St. Luke’s MediLocus was launched to create a new clinic that integrated medical care and exercise therapy under one roof. The goal was to provide individually tailored services based on patients’ needs, lifestyles and physical health. The clinic approached R-body, requesting we leverage our knowledge and expertise in the field of exercise to offer comprehensive patient support services.

Services Provided

  1. Dispatch of On-Site Conditioning Coaches for the Fitness Area
R-body conditioning coaches are stationed full-time in the clinic’s fitness area, ensuring round-the-clock support is available.
  2. Integration of Functional Movement Assessments (S.O.A.P®) into Comprehensive Health Checkups
In order to check not only the patients’ internal health, but also their external physical health (musculoskeletal functionality), a functional movement test was integrated into their comprehensive health checkups, allowing patients to get a better understanding their physical health and overall condition.
  3. Operation of Fitness Area
To help patients develop the conditioning habits necessary for preventive healthcare, R-body provides customized exercise and conditioning programs based on the results of functional movement tests (S.O.A.P®), and supports patients in getting them able to perform these exercises on their own.
  4. Fitness Area Planning & Design
R-body selected the appropriate equipment for injury recovery and prevention training (“conditioning training”), and designed the facility layout.
