Naie Town is located in the central part of Hokkaido Island, and has a population of approximately 5,000 people. With easy access to both Sapporo and Asahikawa, the town is conveniently situated, yet surrounded by abundant nature and beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. The town also has a thriving agricultural community, with locally produced rice and vegetables available at regional farm shops. The town is also home to Naie Onsen, a hot spring bathing facility, and Naie Shrine, where traditional events are held, attracting both tourists and locals alike. Furthermore, as part of its initiative to be a “Town of Lifelong Activity”, it is committed to promoting sports and well-being, and is committed to providing a wide range of facilities and events where residents of all ages can easily get involved.

Client Requests

The success of the healthy community initiatives launched in Higashikawa Town, also located in Hokkaido, led to the idea of establishing similar community driven initiatives in Naie Town, starting in January 2023.
R-body was asked to support the local residents by implementing conditioning & exercise training that could help them achieve long-term health and active living in old age.
We provided consultation and support services for the following initiatives:
– Renovating the facilities at the town’s public sports centers
– Hosting regular conditioning training sessions
– Developing conditioning coaches from within the Regional Revitalization Team
– Supporting the town’s “healthy community development” drive by utilizing local human resources

Services Provided

1. Equipment Selection and Layout Improvements for Public Gym Facilities
   To provide a place where town residents can easily practice conditioning training, we selected the appropriate equipment and improved the layout for better ease of use.
2. Recruitment Support and Training for Local Revitalization Team Members
   To help recruit new members for the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team, we disseminated information to R-body ACADEMY participants as well as vocational colleges that are partnered with R-body. After being hired, the new members took the R-body ACADEMY training program and did an internship to develop the relevant practical skills, and were also provided with ongoing support once they started in their new role.
3. Conditioning Sessions for Local Residents
   We provide a variety of conditioning training for all generations, including at U12 sports clubs, junior high schools, senior high schools, and senior citizen facilities. We also publish conditioning information in town newsletters, and hold special lectures to raise health awareness.
